Greg Davis dodges questions about keeping Mississippi jobs
Davis would support trade deals that hurt working families BOONEVILLE (Friday, May 2, 2008) – As unemployment numbers released today show that 20,000 Americans lost their jobs in April alone, Republican Greg Davis continues to dodge the question of whether he will stand up for Mississippi's jobs in Congress. Travis Childers, an economic leader in North Mississippi who has helped created more than 1,000 new jobs in the area, has signed a “No New Trade Deals” Pledge and called on Davis to stop dodging the issue and say where he stands on unfair trade deals. Childers, the Democratic candidate for Mississippi's 1st Congressional District, meets Davis in a May 13 runoff. Childers will be attending an open house at the Batesville Job Corps Center later today and learning about the job corps and training programs the center offers to young adults in Batesville. “As we hear that 20,000 more Americans have lost their jobs – many of them right here in Mississippi – Greg Davis continues to dodge important questions and try to distract from his tax-raising record,” said Terry R. Cassreino, Childers' campaign press secretary. “Travis Childers has helped create jobs in North Mississippi and will continue to fight for working families in Congress, while Davis only continues his blatant dodging and hypocritical attacks.” 4 Questions Greg Davis Continues to Dodge:
- Will Greg Davis sign a “No New Trade Deals” Pledge and stand up for Mississippi jobs?
- Will Greg Davis release a statement condemning Rev. Wright as Travis Childers has?
- Why did Greg Davis oppose education and our children's future while serving in the Mississippi Legislature?
- How can Greg Davis be trusted to look out for the people of North Mississippi when he takes money from Big Oil companies and has a history of raising taxes on working families?
