False ad by Washington group pulled by local station
WHBQ, FOX 13, pulls ad off air because of deceptive statements

BOONEVILLE (Friday, May 2, 2008) – Memphis FOX affiliate WHBQ pulled an ad by an outside Washington group, Freedom's Watch, today because of its false claims and inaccuracies attacking Travis Childers, the 1st Congressional District candidate.

The ad falsely states that Childers “wants to raise Social Security taxes.” The truth is that Childers is against raising Social Security taxes. He will fight against the privatization of Social Security and to make sure the Social Security Trust fund is protected.

“WHBQ did the right thing by refusing to allow Washington insiders to spread their lies in North Mississippi,” Childers said. “This was just another desperate attempt by a Washington group to lie about my values, and this time they were held accountable for their false attacks. These outside groups are trying to come in and lie about my record to distract from the fact that Republican Greg Davis raised taxes and bought himself a taxpayer funded car. ”
