Dodging Davis hobnobs with Big Oil ' s best
friend while Childers puts Mississippi First BOONEVILLE (Monday, May 12, 2008) – Dodging Greg Davis brings in Big Oil's best friend, Dick Cheney , to campaign for him today while Davis continues to dodge questions about taking money from Big Oil and raising the gas tax on Mississippi families. “Greg Davis can dodge all he wants to, but the truth is that Davis' values aren't North Mississippi values. Greg Davis votes to raise taxes on oil, takes thousands from Big Oil companies and today brings Big Oil's best friend, Dick Cheney , to North Mississippi,” said Travis Childers, the Democratic candidate for Mississippi's 1st District U.S. House seat. “I understand tough times and always put the needs of working families first as they struggle with the skyrocketing cost of gas, groceries and health care.”
While middle class families in North Mississippi are struggling to pay $3.60 a gallon at the pump, Davis has taken thousands of dollars from Big Oil companies and voted in the Mississippi Legislature to raise a tax on a barrel of oil produced in Mississippi by a staggering 71 percent.
While Dodging Davis hobnobs with his Big Oil friends at a ticketed event, Childers will be on his “Putting Mississippi First” tour – meeting with workers, veterans and families throughout the district to talk about how he will always put the needs of North Mississippi first. # # # |
