Travis Childers Kicks Off Campaign throughout First District

Booneville , MS – On Thursday, October 9, Congressman Travis Childers will launch his campaign for reelection to Mississippi 's First District congressional seat. The Congressman will hold regional campaign kick-off events in Lee, DeSoto, Lafayette , Alcorn, Prentiss, and Lowndes Counties .

Congressman Childers was elected to the House of Representatives this spring after a total of four primary and special elections. The Congressman led the ticket in each of the four contests, and was sworn into office in May.

Since taking office, the Congressman has proudly served on the Agriculture and Financial Services Committees, traveled to Iraq and the U.S.-Mexico border, and unveiled a six-point energy plan to provide North Mississippians with much-needed relief.

He has also introduced four pieces of legislation to encourage investment in small business, prevent employment of illegal immigrants, extend hybrid vehicle tax credits, and protect Americans' Second Amendment rights. Congressman Childers successfully passed the Second Amendment Enforcement Act, as well as a measure to prohibit federal infrastructure funds from being used to hire illegal aliens, both of which won overwhelming bipartisan support.

Congressman Childers previously served as Prentiss County Chancery Clerk for 16 years.
